A quick garden update, accompanied by a chorus of native Australian fauna. I recorded this episode outside in my garden at about 9pm, just as twilight was waning.
I announce that I will be creating a series of gardening video tutorials which will cover any vegetables that I plant, maintain, or harvest.
An interesting project for sure, and one that you will be able to keep track of using this link; www.greeningofgavin.com/gardeningvideos/
Enjoy your summer or winter as we swelter here down under. Another nasty, angry summer is forming. We have had three days over 38°C and it is only seven days into the year. Way above average.
Here is to some cooler, wetter weather over the next few days. The garden desperately needs it!

Hi Gavin, I always find your podcasts and garden information really interesting. I’ve used you as a reference many times when I began re-establishing my vege garden. We live in Tasmania so our climatic conditions are much the same as yours. We are desperate for rain…everything is turning brown now, and to keep things alive we’re having to use the chlorinated town water unfortunately. Still, needs must.
We use Charlie Carp on our plants – including succulents – and it works really well. However, your neighbours mightn’t like the smell after you’ve fertilised, it does tend to stink of fish! The other thing that we use on our gardens generally is a mixture of dolomite and potash. If you want to see the plants leap for joy, that’s the mixture to use.
Keep up the good work and I’ll look forward to your videos.
Cheers
Chris
